Mike Matusow was born and raised in Los Angeles California and he got his poker start by playing video poker. However his first real introduction came when he got a job in a casino as a dealer. This gave him a chance to learn the game by watching what other players did. He apparently learned quite well since he entered a small local tournament which he won. This was the start of his career as a professional poker player. Over the next few years he would enter a number of tournaments and would have a great deal of success.
Despite his success in tournaments Mike Matusow built a reputation for being a loud mouth at the table and generally giving his opponents a hard time. While a lot of fans enjoy his antics most other players really don't. That being said his behaviour has helped him at the table since it has caused a lot of opponents to underestimate him. The other thing that Matusow has become known for is occasionally making huge mistakes at critical junctures. Despite all his wins he has also managed to throw away a lot of tournaments as the result of these mistakes.
Like a lot of the top poker players Matusow has really gotten involved in the world of online poker. In fact he was one of the first big stars to start playing online. He is a regular player on a number of sites where he has won a great deal of money. As the result of all the time that he spends playing online he hasn't been entering as many tournaments as he used to but he does occasionally play in them.
