A lot of people have asked why I made this site; after all there are lots of other sites dedicated to poker. The reason that I made this site is that I have found that most of the sites out there don't really provide the kind of information that you need if you are going to be a great poker player. Most either offer the basic rules of the game or they offer very advanced strategy. This site is aimed mainly at the average player looking to improve their game.
The main reason that I made this site is to share my love for poker. I consider poker to be one of the greatest games in world and I truly enjoy playing it. Clearly I am not the only person who thinks this way so I wanted to create a site that would provide information on poker and why it is such a great game. Part of what I wanted to achieve was to let people who are not poker fans to understand why it is such a great game.
The other reason that I made this site is hopefully to help people to become better players. If you are going to be a great poker player there is a lot that has to be learned. I am far from being a great player myself and clearly I have a lot to learn myself but that doesn't mean that I can't share the things that I do learn with other people. In fact it may actually be better to learn from somebody who is really working to learn themselves rather than from a great player who picks the game up naturally. It is similar to the reason that great athletes rarely make great coaches, when you can just do things naturally it is hard to explain to others how to do it.
There are a lot of websites out there that will teach you the technical details of the game and types of strategies that you will need to use. Instead this site is going to focus more on the kinds of skills that you need to learn to be a great player. Everybody knows that you have to be good at managing risk and reading people if you are going to be a great poker player, unfortunately few people are able to tell you how to do it. That is something that this site is going to try to do.
Of course as a poker fan myself I will also spend some time talking about the game as it is played by the professionals. You will find biographies of the great players as well as information about what is going on at the big tournaments. I am a firm believer that you can learn about poker by watching what the best players in the world do so that is something that we are going to do on this site.
